The Last Lecture

"The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough." From The Last Lecture

If I had to pick one book that has had the greatest impact on me I would have to pick The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. It is an amazing book that everyone should be required to read.

Randy Pausch, a professor at Carnegie Melon, was asked to give a "Last Lecture". This is a time honored tradition where a professor gives a lecture based on the premise; if this was the very last lecture you would be giving, what would you say? When Randy Pausch was asked to give this lecture many did not know that he was in fact dying from pancreatic cancer. From that lecture came this incredible book. This is not a book about dying, but how to fully live your life. This book will encourage you to knock down the brick walls in your life and live your life to the fullest . His stories and anecdotes will have you laughing and crying. I just can not say enough about this book.

Find the best in everybody. Just keep waiting no matter how long it takes. No one is all evil. Everybody has a good side, just keep waiting, it will come out.
From The Last Lecture

When you see yourself doing something badly and nobody’s bothering to tell you anymore, that’s a very bad place to be. Your critics are your ones telling you they still love you and care. From The Last Lecture

You just have to decide if you’re a Tigger or an Eeyore. From The Last Lecture
